Truck accident on Tennessee interstate results in fatality

When truck accidents occur, the effects can be widespread and severe. Such accidents can be caused by any number of situations, from driver fatigue to distractions, to intoxication. Whatever the cause, the damage is often extensive. One such truck accident occurred recently in Tennessee.

The incident closed both lanes of traffic for a time. It occurred near exit 74A on Interstate 81, just outside Bristol. The crash involved two vehicles, one of which was reported to be a tractor-trailer. This accident resulted in the closure of that section of the interstate while emergency services attended the scene.

Of the individuals involved in the crash, one died, while two sustained very serious injuries. Members of Bristol Fire Rescue and Bristol Police Department were first to attend, while officers from the Tennessee Highway Patrol arrived later.

As was the case with this accident in Tennessee, collisions involving large vehicles often result in fatalities. Even without such dire consequences, the damage caused can be immense. If you are involved in a truck accident, you have the right to protect yourself and to seek compensation.

In turn, truck companies are required to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition. They are also obliged to monitor its drivers and make sure that they are well rested and responsible. This is why determining causation is so important after a truck accident. It is also helpful to be aware of state legislation, so you know where you stand and can seek the best possible resolution for your particular case.

Multiple vehicles caught in Knoxville pileup

Whether you are a pedestrian, a passenger or a driver, letting your attention stray even for a moment when you are on the road can result in an accident. The volume of vehicles on the roads, especially at busy times of day, means that you need to be alert and aware at all times. Nevertheless, an automobile accident can happen at any time, and one person’s mistake can create a domino effect with repercussions for anyone else in the vicinity.

Knoxville’s Interstate 75 saw a large-scale accident involving half a dozen vehicles. The pileup resulted in the closure of two lanes of the road. Half of the vehicles involved were big trucks, a fact that may have contributed to the scale of the accident, as the sheer size of such vehicles results in much greater damage during a crash.

On some level, the drivers and passengers involved in the accident were fortunate. There were no fatalities, and only one individual was taken into medical care, having sustained minor injuries. Unfortunately, this is not always the case with such accidents, and this crash could easily have resulted in significant injuries.

When people are injured as a result of a car accident, worries about broken bones and brain trauma often supersede financial concerns initially. However, the cost of dealing with medical bills and any damage to vehicles can soon mount up.

Residents of Tennessee may find it helpful to familiarize themselves with the state’s legislation surrounding such accidents. This will enable them to understand what they are entitled to in the event of an automobile-related injury. Such matters should be considered carefully so that all parties receive the care and compensation that they deserve.

Widespread blackouts caused from alleged drunk driving accident

With so many vehicles on the roads, it is hardly surprising that occasionally accidents occur. These can be brought on by distractions, sleepiness, illness or the influence of substances such as narcotics and alcohol. It is not always easy to determine the cause of an accident, as often several factors are involved. Unfortunately, the results of these brief slips of judgment can cause widespread damage, as happened with one automobile accident recently in Tennessee.

A 57-year-old man was found driving around Humboldt early one morning after law enforcement officials had been called out to investigate a downed power pole. The front of his car was heavily damaged and, as a result, he was arrested on suspicion of knocking over the pole.

The driver is now facing charges related to drunk driving and possession of marijuana and cocaine. He has also been charged with leaving the scene of an accident. In addition, the damage to the power pole resulted in power outages to large areas of the city. The outages lasted until the Humboldt Utility Department was able to remedy the problem that afternoon.

Fortunately, no one was harmed in this accident. Nevertheless, any car crash is a traumatic experience for all involved. Whether a collision takes place as a result of simple human error, or because of a drunk driver’s actions, victims are entitled to seek compensation for their injuries. Residents of Tennessee are advised to make themselves aware of their rights, and ensure that any such accidents are investigated fully in order to find the best possible support for all affected.

5 semi trucks involved in accident on icy interstate

Semi trucks are just as common on the roads of Tennessee as they are throughout the country. It is easy to take them for granted, and many of us drive alongside them without ever questioning their drivers or the safety and performance of the vehicles. However, it only takes a moment for a semi truck accident to occur, and many fatal accidents in the U.S. involve these large vehicles.

Trucks travel in every state and navigate across the nation’s roadways daily. In Kentucky, a pileup accident involving five semi-trailers has resulted in heavy damage to the trucks as well as injuries to the drivers. Four semi trucks collided, blocking the interstate to oncoming traffic around 5:30 in the morning. A fifth truck approached the wreck and was unable to stop. The driver of that truck swerved to avoid the pileup, and instead crashed into an entrance ramp just past the initial accident.

Police say icy road conditions primarily caused the accident, though the incident demonstrates the damage large trucks are capable of inflicting. Unfortunately, drivers of these vehicles traveling great distances may be more likely than other drivers to commit an error of judgment or fall asleep at the wheel. Although there are laws in place to prevent it, many trucking companies and their drivers push themselves to work extended hours without a break. In addition, some trucking companies may attempt to cut corners on vehicle maintenance in order to reduce costs and save themselves money.

If you are the victim of an accident involving negligence or carelessness, you may be entitled to financial compensation to help cover vehicle repair and medical bills along with other damages. Understanding your rights and the laws governing vehicle accidents can help you find the best resolution for your specific situation.

Motorcyclist killed after colliding with 2 cars in Fayetteville

Motorcycles provide an exciting and enjoyable way to experience the road. Whether it’s a trip out of town, a drive through the city or a casual ride with friends, there’s nothing else like it. However, due to the relative lack of protection available to motorcycle riders, they are at greater risk of serious injury or death than people riding in other vehicles. Each year, motorcycle accident injuries occur in Tennessee, many of which lead to the hospitalization of the riders or even death.

In Fayetteville, a man suffered fatal injuries while riding his motorcycle. Witnesses say the man collided with the rear of a vehicle that stopped in order to turn left. The rider was thrown from his motorcycle into another lane, where a second vehicle struck him. The accident remains under investigation.

Although this accident is still under investigation, many motorcycle accidents are the result of other drivers’ negligence. Often, they are avoidable mistakes. Drivers often forget to check carefully for motorcyclists, or they drive too close to the rider without considering the potential harm an impact could cause. Other drivers may fail to signal for an upcoming turn or may stop suddenly. Accidents involving motorcyclists commonly result in injuries to the head, neck and back, which can be debilitating and cause expensive medical bills.

If you or someone you know has been in a motorcycle accident that was caused by careless or negligent driving, you need to understand your options and the legal ramifications for all parties involved. Gaining legal knowledge is the first step toward achieving a suitable outcome to your situation.

Possible drunk driving car accident injures 3

Sunday afternoons are a time when many families decide to visit with each other, go out to lunch or just go for a drive to sightsee. It is also a time when many tourists to the Tennessee area pack up to return home. Regardless of the reason for being on the road, Sunday afternoons are not typically thought of as a time when a driver needs to be vigilant, because the risk of a drunk driver sharing the interstate with him or her is likely. However, as proven by a recent car accident, an accident caused by an alleged drunk driver can occur at any time.

Police report that a woman driving north on Interstate 75 was hit from behind by another vehicle. The force of the impact caused the first car to leave the roadway and to flip several times before coming to rest in a wooded area. The car that hit her bounced off the inner wall of the interstate and proceeded to flip as well.

There were a total of three women involved in this accident, and all three were airlifted to a nearby hospital. The woman who was driving the car that was hit suffered serious injuries, and her condition has been reported as critical. The driver who hit her, along with a passenger in this driver’s car, also required medical attention; however, their current condition is not known.

While the exact circumstances leading up to this car accident have not been determined yet, Tennessee police have stated that they believe alcohol was involved. Charges against the driver who caused the accident have yet to be filed and will most likely depend on the outcome of the investigation. Even so, the others who were injured in this accident will be facing numerous medical expenses, lost time from work and other financial and emotional losses. A civil claim may be their best option for addressing these issues.

Fatal accidents in Tennessee could lead to wrongful death claims

An accident that results in a fatality can be devastating for everyone involved. Sadly, fatal accidents seem to be an all too common occurrence, and the surviving family members of the victims of such accidents are left picking up the pieces and trying to move forward. Unfortunately, that is much easier said than done. Sadly, a recent accident in Tennessee is responsible for the untimely death of a young man from Chattanooga.

This crash, involving only one vehicle, was caused when the driver of the car, a 26-year-old female, somehow left the roadway. After leaving the road, the car struck a culvert then rolled several times before coming to a stop. The car apparently caught on fire and a passenger, a 20-year-old male, was trapped inside. Sadly, the passenger died as a result.

Local authorities are still investigating this accident. However, the driver has been arrested and faces charges, including vehicular homicide. Speeding and alcohol are suspected to have been contributing factors in the cause of the crash.

Fatal accidents can leave surviving family members looking for answers and wanting justice for the loss of life. If they choose to do so, they may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim against the driver. If the individual responsible is found negligent or liable in the cause of the victim’s death, a Tennessee civil court could award financial compensation to the victim’s family. Such compensation could be beneficial in providing for any final expenses on behalf of the victim and may also provide some sense of closure for his or her family.

Tennessee driver injured in a semi-truck accident

Passing semi-trucks on the highway can make one nervous for good reason. A 52-year-old Tennessee man found this out when he was traveling down Interstate 40 recently, and a tractor-trailer collided with his car. Often times, a semi-truck accident can cause serious injury. Luckily in this instance, the man is expected to recover.

Shortly after 7am, a Shark Lines 2007 Freightliner pushed a 2003 Toyota Camry into a concrete median barrier. The Camry was under the semi-truck when it came to a rest against the barrier. The driver of the Camry was trapped in the car for over an hour while emergency workers tried to free him. While being cut out of his car, the driver was able to communicate with the rescue personnel.

After he was extracted from the Camry, the motorist was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injures. The accident remains under investigation. The driver of the semi-truck, a 49-year-old male, was cited for failure to exercise due care. He was transporting lawnmowers at the time of the accident. All paperwork and equipment checked out after an inspection of the rig by the Highway Patrol Officer.

Although the exact cause of the semi-truck accident remains unclear, the driver of the Camry still has rights under Tennessee law. The price of hospital bills can be steep even with non-life threatening injuries. Having the right legal advice will help determine if compensation can be received to lessen the costs associated with the truck accident. The driver may be able to receive help, not only with his medical bills, but also for lost wages.

Phone use possible factor in 1 of Tennessee’s fatal accidents

Distracted driving is become much more prevalent in Tennessee car accidents. More often than not, the driver is distracted with his or her cell phone. It looks as though this could be the case for one of Tennessee’s recent fatal accidents.

A 22-year-old reportedly looked at her phone as it vibrated. The phone fell into the seat next to hear, at which time she realized that there was a stopped vehicle ahead of her with no warning or brake lights illuminated. She was able to stop her car from hitting this vehicle, but was unable to avoid colliding with another vehicle after she swerved over the median. That vehicle was driven by a 49-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Currently, the investigation is ongoing, as there are numerous factors that are in play. The accident is being reconstructed by specialists so they can get a clearer idea of exactly what happened that day. The police have currently not charged the driver, nor have they issued any citations; however, it is still possible that criminal charges could arise.

Whether the driver’s cell phone use had anything to do with this accident is still up in the air with police, but this story goes to show the potential dangers of distracted driving. Fatal accidents occur every day in Tennessee and all over the country, causing families of victims to suffer both emotionally and financially due to their losses. For some families, charges against the responsible driver are filed, but it does little to ease their pain. Some families find relief in knowing that there is legal recourse available that may result in financial compensation for their pain and suffering.

Tennessee college student killed in a truck accident

The local Middle Tennessee State University student who was recently killed in a truck accident has been identified. The college student was killed as he was crossing the street in his wheelchair. The student suffered from the impact and was taken to a local hospital. He was later declared dead from the injuries sustained in the tragic truck accident.

The Tennessee student was crossing the street when he was struck, but it is not clear if the student or the dump truck had the right of way at the moment of impact. The student was paralyzed in a previous car accident. There was no report of any criminal charges filed against the trucker, although the official investigation was said to be ongoing.

The student had previously lost his parents and his grandfather. Depending upon what evidence and documentation can be provided from accident, a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver and/or the driver’s employer may be appropriate. It is important to know all options before pursuing claims for financial recompense, but a case evaluation is the best way to determine these options.

The truck accident that claimed the life of the young student was tragic and seemingly senseless. For the surviving family members to be successful in filing a wrongful death claim, they will need to establish the trucker was negligent in a manner that caused or contributed to the accident and death that resulted. While a monetary award for financial losses cannot undo the grief of a family, it may help offset the cost of unexpected medical and end of life expenses.
